Professor Temple Grandin, the renowned international expert on animal handling systems. Prof Grandin looked at how producers can exploit natural behaviour to make things quicker, easier and safer on farm.
Professor Neville Gregory discussed the impact of animal stress and other welfare issues at slaughter and how they can have a detrimental impact on meat quality.
International beef consultant David Evans looked at how events on the global stage could impact on producers in this country
Dr Anne Mottet from the Insituit de l’Elevage gave an update on the vision for sheep meat production in the EU. Dr Mottett is working on the European Sheepmeat Report Project.
Mike Rowe, agricultural manager at Clydesdale Bank Plc gave a financial perspective on the beef and sheep sectors and the challenges ahead.
