David is the former chairman of the National Sheep Association and farms a 1,200 acre hill and lowland family partnership in Cumbria with 700 head of cattle and 4,000 breeding sheep. On his own farm, he runs 1,100 breeding ewes and finishes 300 cattle for major retailers and local butchers.
He is also a former chairman of the Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) Sheep Strategy Council and has served on the current EBLEX board since 2002.
